Wooden Ceiling Fan - Sonnet 23
To turn your gaze inwardly, lingering
Inside for longer than a moment more;
To stamp your feet in joy across the floor
And jolt the vinyl disc's "Ring-a-Ding-Ding";
To open up the windows, letting snug
Sunlight from mountain peaks wash us in blue;
To feel your homely armchair surround you
And complement the coffee in your mug;
To balance your obsession with the new
And novel, something else to conquer thus,
With sentimental things you long to just
Embrace and never lose your grip on, too:
The truest beauty of the life we live
Is found in quiet hours the pauses give.
