Like the Moon
In again
And out again
And in again
And outward to the core
Of glowing embers bright
Upon the silver slivers
Lining to your ranks infinity.
The many nations, kings, and armies
You have watched them all
And as You rise,
And as You seem to fall,
They follow in your footsteps.
Are You smiling right at me?
That may depend upon my own perspective:
If my head is backward or my eyes are straight.
It could go either way,
For one approaches You with gratitude
From high atop a mountain;
Still another begs You from the valley,
Soaking in their tears and toil and sweat.
Yet somehow, I foresee the answer
Beaming brightly through the dark.
My life is like a tide
Pulsating with Your gentle touch,
In
And out
And in
And out
And ups
And downs
Pursuing deep
And pulling back again.
You know I will come back again
On every night I wonder
How my life will come to be.
Yet You have seen them all
And still, You watch me growing tall
And thus extend a hand beginning small
And, warm within Your light, I fall
Into Your guiding rhythm once again:
In
And out again
And in
And out again.
And so I’m learning
To enjoy the journey
Rather than the end.
