Sisyphus is Already Free - Sonnet 31

ZEUS:
“Now, ho there, man of stone: your work is done!
Accompany your heart in step with me
And stand upon the precipice to see
The world unfold for you. We are but one,
The arbiter and judgment seat of fate.
Forgo your burden: number then the odds,
To count yourself again among the gods;
For lack of love, why steep yourself in hate?”

SISYPHUS:
“How sad: for if you polish off the shine
Which coats my dusty face, I paint the sky.
We are the men of action, you and I;
You have your Olympus, and I have mine.
The beast is chained, and sooner marked to die,
But brother, I am happy, for I fly.”
