The Twilight Forest - Sonnet 6
An aging sun, illuminating all
In wispy hues of purple, orange, blue,
Reflects in glist’ning drops of waterfall
And washes fragrant pines in peace anew.
The two red foxes overlook the glen
And watch the sun fall slow behind the peak
Of mountain summits. Every now and then,
Their tails flick knowingly towards a creek.
Two pairs of yellow eyes survey their keep,
And one looks wistfully behind. She knows
Her babies lay in wait, in blissful sleep,
Inside their hole, the homestead that they chose.
As evenfall comes, shrouding distant pine,
Their bushy tails, then, with love, intertwine.
