You - Sonnet 20
Your laughter ringing sweetly in my ears;
The way your eyes shine brightly in the sun
And turn my knotted heart to coils undone;
Your passion bubbled up in drops of tears,
Both glad and sorrowful; your caring touch
That nurtures even wilted blades of grass;
The humor you employ: a rush of sass
And wit with effortless effect, of such
Intense and fruitful wisdom there impearled;
The bearing of our son through days and weeks;
The pleasant color in your voice and cheeks
That makes my mind forget this weary world:
And many more, dear one, are reasons for
My "I love you", my darling, evermore!
The way your eyes shine brightly in the sun
And turn my knotted heart to coils undone;
Your passion bubbled up in drops of tears,
Both glad and sorrowful; your caring touch
That nurtures even wilted blades of grass;
The humor you employ: a rush of sass
And wit with effortless effect, of such
Intense and fruitful wisdom there impearled;
The bearing of our son through days and weeks;
The pleasant color in your voice and cheeks
That makes my mind forget this weary world:
And many more, dear one, are reasons for
My "I love you", my darling, evermore!
