The Door is Red - Sonnet 58
O’ sing aloud, and lighten up the skies
Within the marble courts of sanity
And known prospects of what I wish to be,
To rest above, to wonder with my eyes;
If nothing more to be, there I will live
Among the seraphim and there complete
My longing soul shall be; if there I meet
The end of all there is, I could not give
Another moment there of more that was.
What do I mean? I could not say myself,
Because the meaning I could give itself
Is of a kingly throne, and to applause
The elegance is lost. Say more, or less,
And rhyme or reason will ordain and bless.
